I've read many blogs about other people's impressions about the T-1000 and/or T-2000 and I don't want to repeat what's already been said. So, on to my observations...
Sun scored some extra points right off the bat by including extra mounting bolts and nuts, but this feeling only lasted until I realized that the supplied rack rails were just not long enough to be mounted in our Dell rack. The rack rails would just barely fit, but that's without the bolts and counter-nuts that fixate the rails to the rack.
I don't know whether the Dell rack is a bit deeper than the standard full size or whether the Sun rails fall just short with the maximum length...but I don't care right now, for now the solution looks like this:
That's about it for setting it up....except for that the system's running noise is pretty annoying - it's not as loud as all the other blogs made me believe, it's just that it has a really annoying high pitch to it; the pitch is so distinctive that it is clearly recognizable over all the other running systems. As for its actual noise level I'd say it's about as loud as 2 or 3 Dell PE 750's.
